A home for African women's words, ideas and futures.

Tuniq Africa LBG is a registered Ghanaian NGO dedicated to empowering African women writers, building literary infrastructure across the continent, and creating a lasting archive of African women's artistic and intellectual work.

Through our flagship programme, the All African Women Poetry Festival (AAWPF), we bring together poets, scholars, and audiences from across Africa and the diaspora to celebrate African literature, foster dialogue, and reshape the African narrative.

Flagship Programme

All African Women Poetry Festival (AAWPF)

Launched in Accra in 2023, the All African Women Poetry Festival gathers poets from across the continent and the diaspora each May for readings, book launches, panel conversations, workshops, and performances; renowned voices and emerging ones, all platforming women's stories. Anchored in Ghana and occasionally travelling the continent, the festival is supported by long-term partners including UNESCO, the British Council, the Netherlands Embassy, Afro ele, Inkgh and Writers Project of Ghana.

Craft & Community

Writers Residency

An intensive programme bringing together emerging and established African women poets for craft development, editorial feedback, peer critique, and community building. 22+ alumni across all cohorts. Graduates become mentors, resource persons, and future programme leaders.

Youth Mentorship

V.O.W. – Voice on Words

A spoken word competition and mentorship incubator for young people aged 18–27. Participants receive coaching, compete in three rounds, and are tracked into extended mentorship, with outstanding participants nominated for the residency.

Meet Our Executive Director

Founder & Executive Director

Emma Ofosua Donkor

Emma Ofosua is a West African writer, cultural curator, and performance poet passionate about African literature, creative arts, and literacy advocacy. Her work centers on themes of identity, culture, and memory, highlighting the resilience and courage of African women. She authored I Wish You Courage in the Night Season and directs the All African Women Poetry Festival; a UNESCO and British Council-partnered platform celebrating women’s voices in a four-day conference that hosts 6-10 poets from 6 African countries and the diaspora annually. As Managing Editor of Hadithi Magazine and creative lead of Tuniq Africa and its foundation, she champions cultural entrepreneurship. She has been named among top 100 writers and was awarded the most promising writers award from Pagya sponsored by the EU delegation. Her work Reclamation, published in Decolonial Passage, was nominated for Best of the Net in 2024. In 2025, her debut fiction was published in the Perfect Place Anthology by Smartline Publishers.
